Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), March 21: Two ships, Ocean Jade and Ocean Morganite, were placed under arrest at Paradip Port in Jagatsinghpur district on Friday, following a directive from the Orissa High Court. The arrest was executed as part of an ongoing maritime dispute case involving financial claims.

Sources indicate that Alphard Maritime Group, a leading maritime logistics and marine services company, had filed a case in the Orissa High Court against the two vessels, demanding unpaid dues amounting to ₹428 crore. Ocean Jade is classified as an offshore supply vessel, while Ocean Morganite is an anchor handling tug—both of which operate under the Indian flag.

Following the court’s directive, a Marine Police team, accompanied by a judge from the Kujang court, arrived at Paradip Port to execute the arrest order and ensure compliance.

This is not the first such incident at Paradip Port. In August 2023, an Egyptian cargo ship was arrested after failing to clear an outstanding debt of ₹3.96 crore owed to a German company. The Orissa High Court had ordered its detention on August 14, 2023.
