Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Aug 24: A Vigilance court has ordered the confiscation of disproportionate assets valued at over Rs 5.86 crore belonging to Subash Chandra Mishra, a former engineer with the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation.

The assets include three buildings, multiple plots in Mouza Rajarani and Bhimpur, 2.5 kg of gold ornaments, and financial holdings comprising bank and insurance deposits and investments in shares amounting to Rs 34 lakh.

The Vigilance team conducted raids on properties linked to Mishra in 2004, and a charge sheet was filed in 2012. Mishra was charged under Sections 13 (2) read with 13 (1) (e) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, for holding assets disproportionate to his known sources of income. During the investigation, the properties were attached, and the Vigilance Department requested the court to order their confiscation.

The court has now pronounced its judgment on the confiscation, which was officially communicated on Saturday.
