Vigilance raids properties linked to Chief Engineer amid corruption allegations

Vigilance raid: Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Oct 22: Odisha Vigilance sleuths launched a series of raids on properties linked to Kailash Chandra Sahu, the Chief Engineer and Basin Manager of the Baitarani Basin in Keonjhar.

The raids stem from allegations that Sahu has accumulated assets disproportionate to his known sources of income. According to a statement from the Vigilance department, the operations involve teams consisting of one Additional Superintendent of Police, four Deputy Superintendents of Police, seven inspectors, seven Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASIs), and other supporting personnel. These teams are executing search warrants issued by the Special Judge of Vigilance in Keonjhar across ten locations in Bhubaneswar, Puri, Cuttack, Jajpur, and Keonjhar.

The specific sites being raided include Residential Flat No. 308 on the 3rd floor of Jagannath Mansion in Bhubaneswar, Residential Flat No. 002 on the 2nd floor of Maa Tarini Apartment in Jajpur district, and Flat No. 1302 on the 3rd floor of Dharma Heaven Apartment in Puri district. Additional properties under scrutiny are Shop No. 4 in Jagabandhu Bhawan in Jajpur, a triple-story residential building in Mrutyunjayapur, two storehouses in Begana, residential government quarters in Keonjhar, and Sahu’s office chamber in Keonjhar town. The investigation also includes a paternal house in Ramkapur, Cuttack district, and a relative’s house in Banahara, Salepur, Cuttack district.
