Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Aug 30: Odisha Vigilance officials uncovered significant assets during raids on Pradeep Kumar Das, a junior assistant at the District Education Officer (DEO) office in Balasore. The raids, conducted on allegations of accumulating assets disproportionate to his known income, revealed a triple-storey building, a market complex with 20 shops valued at over Rs 1 crore, and six high-value plots.
According to a Vigilance statement, the simultaneous searches were executed by a team comprising 2 Additional SPs, 4 DSPs, 7 inspectors, 5 ASIs, and other staff, based on search warrants issued by the Special Judge, Vigilance, Balasore. The locations raided included:
1. Das’s triple-storey residential building in Angargadia, Balasore.
2. His paternal house in Bhuinpada, Khantapada, Balasore.
3. A market complex in Madhagada, Sergarh, Balasore.
4. The house of a relative in Kahalia, Nilgiri, Balasore.
5. Another relative’s house in Bhuinpada, Khantapada, Balasore.
6. His office room at the Collectorate Campus, Balasore.
The assets discovered include:
• A triple-storey building spanning over 3,700 square feet in Angargadia.
• A two-storey market complex with 20 shops, worth over Rs 1 crore, covering 4,000 square feet in Sergarh Bazar.
• Six high-value plots around Balasore town.
• Two two-wheelers.
The Vigilance Technical Wing is currently assessing the valuation of the properties, and further scrutiny of bank, insurance, postal deposits, and other investments is underway.
