weather news: Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Dec 6: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) announced on Friday that a low-pressure area is expected to form over the central parts of the south Bay of Bengal around December 7.
This weather system is predicted to move west-northwestward, reaching the southwest Bay of Bengal near the coasts of Sri Lanka and Tamil Nadu by December 12. As a result of this development, isolated heavy rainfall is anticipated in coastal Tamil Nadu on December 11-12, and in coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, and Rayalaseema on December 12.
Notably, the system is not expected to have any significant direct impact on Odisha; however, light rain is forecasted for the state on December 8-9. The IMD predicts that light rainfall may occur in several districts, including Ganjam, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nuapada, and Balangir on December 8, followed by Ganjam, Gajapati, Nayagarh, Khurda, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, and Boudh on December 9.
Additionally, the IMD has warned of shallow to moderate fog in districts such as Jagatsinghpur, Bhadrak, Kendrapada, Jajpur, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Kandhamal, and Kalahandi on December 7-8. Night temperatures are also expected to drop by 2 to 4°C over the next two days, followed by a rise of 2 to 3°C in the subsequent three days.
