weather news: Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Dec 20: Odisha is expected to experience light to moderate rainfall on December 20 and 21, as a well-marked low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal is likely to intensify into a depression within the next 12 hours.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the weather system, which was located over the southwest and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal at 5:30 AM, is forecasted to move nearly northwards and concentrate into a depression over the west-central Bay of Bengal. Following this, it is anticipated to shift north-northeast while maintaining its intensity for the next 24 hours.

As a result, the state capital has already been experiencing intermittent rainfall since last night. The IMD has also predicted light to moderate rain in several districts, including Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Bolangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, and Malkangiri on December 20. Light rain is expected at one or two locations in coastal areas on December 21, particularly in Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada, Puri, Khurda, Cuttack, Jajpur, Balasore, Mayurbhanj, and Bhadrak.
Additionally, the IMD has forecast a dip in night temperatures by 2 to 4 degrees Celsius starting December 23.
