weather news: Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Nov 23: A low-pressure area has formed over the east Equatorial Indian Ocean and the adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal at 8:30 am, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported on Saturday. The system is expected to move west-northwestwards and intensify into a depression over central parts of the south Bay of Bengal by November 25. It is likely to continue moving northwestwards toward the Tamil Nadu-Sri Lanka coasts in the following days.
The IMD has forecast isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal on November 27-28, with isolated heavy rainfall expected on November 29. Additionally, isolated heavy rainfall may occur in the Nicobar Islands on November 23-24, Kerala and Mahe from November 26-29, and Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, and Rayalaseema from November 27-29.
In Odisha, light rain or thundershowers are expected at one or two places in Ganjam and Gajapati districts on November 27. Rain is also likely in Ganjam, Gajapati, Malkangiri, Koraput, Puri, Jagatsinghpur, and Kendrapada on November 28, and in Koraput and Malkangiri on November 29.
The IMD has also issued a warning of shallow to moderate fog at isolated places in Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Sundargarh, and Keonjhar through the morning of November 25.
