Weather news: Odisha to witness temperature rise, rain and thunderstorms in next few days: IMD

Weather news: Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), April 5: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday predicted a rise in day temperatures across Odisha by 2 to 4 degrees Celsius over the next two days. Despite the rising heat, certain districts are expected to experience rain and thunderstorms.

According to the IMD’s latest bulletin, thunderstorm activity accompanied by lightning is likely at one or two places in Koraput, Malkangiri, Rayagada, Gajapati, and Ganjam districts till 8:30 AM on Sunday. These regions may also witness light to moderate rainfall.

Dry conditions are expected to prevail across most of the state during the following 24 hours. However, rain may return on April 7 in parts of Malkangiri, Koraput, and Rayagada.

The IMD has issued a yellow warning for thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty surface winds reaching speeds of 30–40 km/h in Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, and Sundargarh on April 8. The warning extends to Ganjam, Gajapati, and other previously mentioned districts on April 9.

Light to moderate rainfall may also occur in several coastal and interior districts including Balasore, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, and Khurda on April 10 and 11. The overall weather pattern is expected to remain largely unchanged through the subsequent three days.
