Weather News: Bhubaneswar,(Reporterspen), Nov 26: The night temperature in G Udayagiri dropped below 8°C once again, while the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack recorded temperatures around 15°C over the past 24 hours, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday.
G Udayagiri in Kandhamal district was the coldest place in the state, with a temperature of 7.5°C, followed by Phulbani at 9.5°C and Daringbadi at 10°C, both also in Kandhamal district. Dense fog enveloped Phulbani and Rourkela, which recorded 12.2°C, while Bhawanipatna saw 11.2°C and moderate fog conditions. Bhubaneswar and Cuttack recorded 15.2°C and 15°C, respectively, as per the weather agency’s report.
The IMD further indicated that shallow to moderate fog is expected in parts of Sundargarh, Kandhamal, and Kalahandi districts until the morning of November 28.
Looking ahead, Odisha may experience light rain from November 28 to 30, due to a weather system forming over the Bay of Bengal, which is likely to intensify into a deep depression and move north-northwestwards toward the Sri Lanka-Tamil Nadu coast. The system will cause moisture incursion, bringing light rain to places like Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Ganjam, and Gajapati on November 28; Bhadrak, Balasore, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Ganjam, and Gajapati on November 29; and Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Malkangiri, and Koraput on November 30.
This rainfall is expected to result in an increase in the night temperature, which may rise by 2-3°C from November 29 onward.
