weather news: Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Dec 17: Odisha continues to shiver under intense cold wave conditions, with temperatures dropping below 10°C in at least 13 locations over the past 24 hours, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
G Udayagiri in Kandhamal recorded the lowest temperature in the state at 4.7°C, emerging as the coldest place. Rourkela followed with 5.7°C, while Similiguda, Jharsuguda, and Phulbani recorded 6.5°C, 7.2°C, and 7.5°C, respectively.
Other areas experiencing significant chill include Sundargarh (8.6°C), Keonjhar (8.9°C), and Angul, Bhawanipatna, Nabarangpur, Kirei, and Chipilima, which all recorded 9°C. Bhadrak registered 9.5°C, while Balangir and Daringbadi reported 10°C.
In the twin cities, Bhubaneswar recorded a minimum temperature of 13.6°C, and Cuttack registered 12.5°C.
The IMD has forecast a gradual rise in night temperatures by 3-5°C across Odisha over the next three days. Despite this, residents are advised to take precautions as the cold conditions persist, especially during the early morning and night hours.
