Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Aug 7: A youth sustained a bullet injury after unidentified assailants fired at him in Balia, under the Sahadevkhunta police limits in Balasore district, Odisha, on Wednesday. The victim, Manoranjan Bindhani, was attacked by four bike-borne miscreants while returning from the gym.
The attackers brandished a gun and fired at Manoranjan, causing a minor injury as the bullet narrowly missed his face. In a frantic bid to escape, Manoranjan fled to the residence of Remuna MLA Gobinda Chandra Das.
He was quickly transported to the district headquarters hospital (DHH) in Balasore, where his condition was reported as stable. MLA Das, who was in the midst of addressing public grievances, alerted the police about the incident. “I informed the police and contacted the Superintendent of Police to request the immediate arrest of those responsible,” Das stated.
The motive behind the attack is not yet clear, though it is suspected to be related to an old dispute. Police have launched an investigation and have visited the scene to gather information.
