Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), June 29: To enhance transparency and prevent corruption in paddy procurement, the state government has decided to install CCTV cameras in all paddy procurement centers and GPS systems in vehicles transporting paddy. This move aims to ensure seamless transportation of paddy and enable real-time monitoring of vehicle locations.

According to Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Krushna Chandra Patra, the initiative will utilize technology to prevent corruption and ensure transparency in the transportation process. The CCTV cameras will closely monitor paddy movement in the mandis, while GPS systems will track vehicle locations in real-time.

The plan, set to be executed within two months, aims to address long-standing issues faced by farmers, including irregularities in weighing and delayed payments. Additionally, the government plans to establish cold storage facilities in every block, further enhancing the efficiency of the paddy procurement process. District collectors have been informed of the initiative, which is expected to bring relief to farmers and improve the overall transparency of the system.
