IMD forecasts early monsoon arrival in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, (Repoterspen), June 3: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts the arrival of the southwest monsoon in Odisha within the next 4-5 days, earlier than its usual onset date of June 12.
According to the IMD, conditions are conducive for the southwest monsoon to progress into several areas, including parts of south Chhattisgarh and south Odisha, among others, over the next few days.

The southwest monsoon has already covered portions of central Arabian Sea, Karnataka, Rayalaseema, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Westcentral, and Northwest Bay of Bengal.

Simultaneously, the regional center has issued a yellow warning for heatwave conditions in certain districts like Sonepur, Boudh, Balangir, and others on June 4-5. Additionally, hot and humid weather is expected in several other districts from June 4 to June 7.

The IMD has also cautioned about thunderstorms with lightning and gusty surface winds in various districts on June 6 and June 7, including Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, and others.
