Bhubaneswar, (Repoterspen), July 1: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported on Monday that heavy rain is expected to persist in some districts of Odisha for the next 24 hours.

The weather agency issued a yellow warning for heavy rainfall at isolated places in Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, and Keonjhar. Additionally, due to a steep pressure gradient, strong surface winds with speeds reaching 40 to 50 kmph are likely along and off the North Odisha coast during this period. Fishermen are advised to avoid venturing into the sea along the North coast.

Thunderstorms with lightning may occur at isolated places in Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, Deogarh, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, and Jagatsinghpur from July 1-2.

Bhubaneswar is expected to experience partly cloudy skies with occasional spells of rain or thundershowers on July 1.

While no further weather warnings are in place, light to moderate rain or thundershowers may continue across the state until July 7, according to the IMD.
