Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), May 30: Senior IPS officer Ashish Kumar Singh underwent a medical examination at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bhubaneswar, on Thursday, following the Election Commission of India’s (ECI) directive amidst concurrent polls in Odisha. The ECI mandated a comprehensive medical evaluation of Singh, the IG (CM Security), by a specially constituted medical board at AIIMS, Bhubaneswar.

According to the ECI’s instructions, the report from the detailed examination of Singh, who has been on medical leave since May 4, must be submitted to the Commission no later than May 31.

Additionally, the ECI ordered the suspension of DS Kutey, Special Secretary to the Chief Minister’s Office, aiming to “prevent undue influence on the election machinery and maintain fairness in the electoral process.”

Sources revealed that Singh is undergoing thorough evaluation by a special medical board established by AIIMS, Bhubaneswar. In compliance with the ECI’s directive, a six-member committee, led by (Prof.) Ashutosh Biswas, Executive Director of AIIMS Bhubaneswar, has been tasked with assessing Singh’s health and submitting a report to the Election Commission by May 31.

Amid the ongoing general elections in the state, the Election Commission had earlier removed Singh from his position as Central Range Police IG on April 2 and instructed him to abstain from participating in election-related activities. Subsequently, the state government appointed him as IG (Chief Minister’s Security).
