Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen),June 8: The Southwest monsoon arrived in Odisha on Saturday, covering portions of Malkangiri district, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The early onset of the monsoon, as forecasted by the IMD, has brought rainfall to various regions of the state, including Malkangiri and neighboring districts.

Traditionally, the monsoon reaches southern Odisha around June 12, marking an early arrival this year by approximately four days.

Manorama Mohanty, Director of the Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar, indicated that the northern limit of the monsoon now traverses through Baramati, Nizamabad, Sukma, Malkangiri, and Vizianagaram.
The weather agency had previously noted favorable conditions for the early arrival of the southwest monsoon in Odisha.

Sources suggest that conditions remain conducive for the monsoon to progress further into other areas of the state in the coming days following its initiation in Malkangiri.
