Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), May 30: Addressing speculations about his successor, Odisha Chief Minister and BJD President Naveen Patnaik asserted on Thursday that VK Pandian is not designated as his successor, emphasizing that the people of Odisha will make that decision.

In an exclusive interview with a national news agency, the BJD leader clarified his stance.

Responding to opposition allegations regarding VK Pandian’s influence on Odisha’s decision-making, Patnaik dismissed them as baseless. He stated, “This is absurd. I’ve reiterated this before, these are old accusations with no merit.”

When questioned about Pandian’s purported prominence within the BJD, Patnaik dismissed such notions, highlighting the significant roles held by party members, ministers, and representatives in democratic processes.

Addressing recent remarks by the Prime Minister regarding the formation of a committee to assess his health if the BJP assumes power, Patnaik expressed skepticism, suggesting it was a tactic to gain electoral advantage. He clarified, “If PM Modi genuinely cared about my health, he could have simply called me. This seems more like a ploy to win votes. Such rumors have circulated from Delhi for a decade. My health is robust.”

Denying any health concerns raised by the BJP, Patnaik affirmed his excellent health despite campaign demands. Regarding a viral video showing his associate assisting him, Patnaik dismissed it as a non-issue, attributing it to exaggeration by a BJP Chief Minister.

When questioned about potential support for the saffron party, Patnaik asserted that their stance would be evaluated when necessary.
