Odisha authors shine in Kendra Sahitya Akademi awards

Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), June 15: The Kendra Sahitya Akademi has announced its winners for the year 2024, with two writers from Odisha earning recognition in different categories.

Manas Ranjan Samal has been awarded the prestigious Kendra Sahitya Akademi Bal Sahitya Puraskar for his book of short stories titled “Gapa Kalika”. Sanjay Kumar Panda has been honored with the Sahitya Akademi Yuva Puraskar for his collection of short stories titled “Hu Baia”, both written in Odia.

The awards were disclosed following a meeting of the Kendra Sahitya Akademi’s executive body chaired by President Madhav Kaushik on Saturday. According to the Akademi, selections were made based on recommendations from juries consisting of three members each, adhering to established rules and procedures.

The executive board finalizes the awards through a process involving either unanimous or majority voting by the jury, as stated in a press release from the Akademi.
