Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), June 29: A group of migrant workers from Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, and Kendrapara districts in Odisha find themselves stranded in Dubai, prompting a distress call to Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and BJP National Vice-President Baijayant Panda for urgent rescue from their exploitative employer.

These workers, employed as plumbers, have alleged severe mistreatment including mental and physical abuse, unpaid wages, and the confiscation of their passports by their employer. Their ordeal began with promises of lucrative plumbing jobs in Dubai by a Bhubaneswar-based agent, only to face exploitation upon arrival.

In a poignant video message, the workers recounted their harrowing experience, revealing they endured five days without food and were coerced into grueling work under threat of harm. They described feeling trapped, unable to return home due to their confiscated passports.

Their plea highlights broader concerns about the well-being of Indian migrant workers in the Gulf region, drawing attention to their vulnerable circumstances and the need for immediate intervention.
