Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), June 29: The Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) is gearing up to host the Odisha T20 2024 Cricket League (OCL) starting June 30 at Cuttack’s Barabati Stadium. OCA secretary Sanjay Behera informed reporters that all matches of this T20 extravaganza will be held at the international venue until July 17.

Six teams are set to compete in this exciting tournament: Odisha Lions, Odisha Tigers, Odisha Jaguars, Odisha Pumas, Odisha Panthers, and Odisha Cheetahs. Rakesh Patnaik, Biplab Samantray, Sandeep Patnaik, Karthik Biswal, Suryakant Pradhan, and Shantanu Mishra will lead the respective teams.

A total of 33 matches are scheduled, with each team playing 10 matches. Similar to the IPL, OCA has introduced red and green caps for leading wicket-takers and top run-scorers, alongside implementing DRS and the IMPACT PLAYER rules. Around 40% of new talents identified from the Kalahandi Cup have been included in the league.

Behera highlighted that three matches will be played daily, emphasizing the league’s role in showcasing new players and potentially propelling them towards opportunities like the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
