Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), June 28: A tragic incident occurred in Padmapur, Odisha’s Balasore district on Friday, where a 10-year-old student lost his life after a water tank wall collapsed on the school premises. The victim, identified as Narayan Tudu, was a Class V student at Banchhanidhi English Medium School and hailed from Khurda.
Narayan resided in the school hostel, and the incident occurred while he and other hostel residents were washing their hands near the water tank after breakfast. He was trapped under the debris of the collapsing wall and was promptly rescued. Despite being rushed to the district headquarters hospital, doctors pronounced him dead upon arrival.
Several other students also suffered injuries during the mishap. The school principal informed the media that the water tank collapsed unexpectedly while the students were engaged in routine activities, leading to Narayan’s tragic demise.
Authorities have initiated a police investigation into the incident.
