Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), June 14: A woman and her daughter are in critical condition after reportedly being stabbed by their neighbor in Danipali village, under Ainthapalli police jurisdiction in Sambalpur district, Odisha, on Friday. Identified as Indu Das and her daughter Payal Das, they have been admitted to VIMSAR Hospital in Burla.
Sources indicate that Suraj Hati, the accused, had ongoing tensions with the Das family over a land dispute. The attack occurred this morning as the victims were en route to their tailoring shop. Indu and Payal initially received treatment at Sadar Hospital before being transferred to VIMSAR due to the severity of their injuries.
Sambalpur Sadar SDPO Tofan Bag reported, “The daughter is able to communicate, but her mother remains in critical condition. Both have sustained multiple injuries to their chest, abdomen, and other parts of their bodies.”
Following the incident, Sambalpur SP has instructed the formation of a special team to apprehend the accused, who fled after the assault. Bag added, “The exact motive behind this brutal attack will be established after a thorough investigation. According to the victim’s son, it stems from a longstanding family dispute with their neighbor.”
