Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), June 13: A mysterious illness has reportedly caused the deaths of four individuals in Kashipur block of Rayagada district, sparking concern among locals. The unknown disease has particularly affected Manushpadar village, where multiple cases have emerged since June 3rd.

According to reports, the illness has claimed the lives of four children and afflicted several others, who have been admitted to Rayagada District Headquarter Hospital (DHH). Symptoms include fever accompanied by throat swelling. Initially, due to limited health awareness, villagers delayed seeking medical assistance, which may have contributed to the severity of the situation.

District health authorities, including Chief Medical Officer Dr. Lal Mohan Routray, Additional District Medical Officer Dr. Bardakant Mishra, and Microbiologist Dr. Suryakant Samal, are actively investigating the outbreak. Preliminary findings suggest a possible throat infection, prompting the collection and testing of blood samples from affected children.

Dr. Routray also mentioned ongoing consultations with state pediatricians, including those from Koraput Laxman Nayak Medical College, to better understand and address the emerging health crisis.
