Odisha CM calls for enhanced police service, reviews law and order

Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), June 15: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi conducted a comprehensive review of the state’s law and order situation on Saturday, meeting with the Director General of Police (DGP) and other senior police officials. During the meeting, the Chief Minister underscored the importance of delivering high-quality service to the public.

DGP Arun Sarangi informed reporters that the discussion covered various issues concerning the state police. He highlighted that the Chief Minister emphasized the need for police personnel to provide courteous and effective service, particularly by attentively addressing public grievances at police stations.
“The Chief Minister directed us to interact respectfully with the public,” Sarangi remarked, adding, “Accordingly, we will instruct everyone to treat people well and address their concerns. Our goal is to ensure top-notch police service.”

Regarding the upcoming implementation of three new criminal laws effective from July 1 nationwide, Sarangi mentioned briefing the Chief Minister on their preparedness for these changes. “The Chief Minister will oversee the progress in this regard,” he confirmed.

In addition to DGP Sarangi, the meeting was attended by Special Secretary (Home) Santosh Bala, Additional Director Generals Sanjay Kumar, R K Sharma, Arun Bothra, Amitabh Thakur, Director Intelligence Saumendra Priyadarshi, Twin City Commissioner Sanjeeb Panda, and other senior police officials.
