54-year-old arrested in Bhubaneswar for stealing multiple motorcycles

Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), June 7: A 54-year-old man was apprehended by the Commissionerate police for allegedly stealing 24 motorcycles from various areas in Bhubaneswar and its outskirts. The suspect, identified as Krupasindhu Mahapatra of Janala under Info Valley police station, was detained by the Capital Police in Bhubaneswar.

Police Commissioner Sanjeev Panda stated that several cases are pending against Mahapatra in various police stations. The recovered motorcycles include nine Hero Glamour bikes, three Hero HF Deluxe, four Hero Honda Splendor, six Hero Honda Splendor Plus, one Hero iSmart, and one Hero Honda Passion Plus.
The arrest came after a complaint was filed regarding the theft of a motorcycle at Capital Hospital. A team from the Capital police station initiated an investigation and apprehended the accused from the Janala area in Khurdha.

During interrogation, Mahapatra admitted to stealing 24 bikes from different locations in Bhubaneswar. He reportedly targeted motorcycles parked at Capital Hospital, AIIMS, BMC Mall, Kalinga Hospital, and Apollo Hospital.

Subsequently, the police recovered and seized all the stolen motorcycles found in his residence. The accused has been presented before the court, and further investigation is ongoing, added the commissioner.
