Tourist bus collides with truck in Odisha, 2 dead, 15 injured

Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), June 8: At least two people were killed and over 15 others injured when a tourist bus from Kolkata collided with a cement-laden truck in Odisha’s Jajpur district on Saturday.
Preliminary reports indicate that the accident occurred in the early hours when the Puri-bound bus rear-ended the truck at Kandhei Chhak under Barchana police limits.

The bus, carrying over 50 passengers from Kolkata, lost control and crashed into the truck. The driver and the helper of the bus died instantly, while around 15 others sustained injuries. The injured were swiftly taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, with four later transferred to a hospital in Cuttack due to worsening conditions.

Upon learning of the incident, police promptly arrived at the scene, initiated rescue operations, and launched an investigation into the accident. According to sources, the bus caught fire following the collision, and fire services personnel were quick to respond, extinguishing the blaze efficiently.
