Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), May 8: With elections drawing near, campaigning is in full swing in Odisha. Biju Janata Dal’s (BJD) key campaigner, Karthik Pandian, has expressed confidence in the party’s sweeping victory in the first phase of elections.

Addressing local media, the 5T chairman stated that the BJD anticipates securing a substantial number of votes in the initial phase of elections in Odisha on May 13. He noted that the party faces competition from Congress in Koraput and Kalahandi, whereas in Ganjam, the BJD is significantly ahead, ensuring a decisive victory in the first phase.

Additionally, VK Pandian highlighted public anticipation for the BJD’s manifesto, emphasizing its focus on the development of Odisha rather than merely garnering votes. He assured that Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s manifesto would be unveiled within two days.

Earlier, senior BJD leader and party strategist VK Pandian challenged the BJP to announce its Chief Ministerial candidate for Odisha. Criticizing the saffron party during a public meeting in Khallikote, Ganjam district, Pandian asserted that the BJP stands to gain minimal support without a clear candidate.
Worth noting, voting for Odisha’s four Lok Sabha segments and the 28 associated assembly seats is scheduled to commence on May 13. Subsequent phases of the election will take place on May 19, May 25, and June 1, with results expected to be declared on June 4, 2024.
