Bhubaneswar,(Reporterspen), April 20: The relentless heatwave is expected to persist in Odisha until tomorrow, according to forecasts from the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

The IMD predicts that temperatures will remain above 40 degrees Celsius in most parts of the state. This condition is primarily attributed to the prevalence of dry northwesterly and westerly air streams, combined with intense solar radiation, as stated by the Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar on Saturday.

The daytime temperature is anticipated to exceed normal levels by 3°C to 5°C in certain areas of the state over the next 24 hours, the center advised, urging people to take precautionary measures when venturing outdoors between 11 am and 3 pm.

As the scorching heatwave persists, Keonjhar emerged as the hottest location in the state by 2:30 pm on Saturday, recording a maximum temperature of 43.5°C. By the same time, eight other places in Odisha registered temperatures exceeding 40°C.

The state capital, Bhubaneswar, reported a temperature of 40.5 degrees Celsius, indicating a significant decrease from the 43.6 degrees measured on Thursday.
